Ryan Gibson is an accomplished screenwriter, producer, and educator with an extensive career spanning film, television, and international storytelling. He began his career at Warner Bros., gaining foundational experience in the business side of entertainment before moving into production roles on major projects, including NBC’s Friends and Rock Me Baby.
Ryan went on to serve as a Writer’s Assistant on Lifetime’s Missing and built a strong presence in reality television, contributing to series such as Top Chef, Treasure Hunters, Made in America, and Last Comic Standing. His breakthrough came when he rewrote the Lionsgate feature Frankenhood, which led to writing for the long-running CBS procedural Criminal Minds.
As the founder of Script Therapy, Ryan has mentored emerging writers, helping them find their voice and tell authentic stories. His passion for storytelling extends globally—over the past decade, he has traveled to Nigeria to teach screenwriting to Nollywood professionals through the New York Film Academy and Del-York Creative Academy, while also working with foster youth through Kids In The Spotlight (K.I.T.S).
Ryan’s recent work includes developing the historical project The Forgotten Ones, writing for BET’s Trap Queens, and co-producing The Zoo. He has also created original projects including the drama pilot Blue and the anthology series American Spooks. In 2020, he was recognized as a Spotlighted Writer by Coverfly.
Currently based in Botswana, Ryan continues to teach masterclasses in screenwriting and the business of entertainment while contributing to the development of film and television infrastructure across Africa. His work centers on telling powerful stories that reflect the richness and complexity of African and diasporic experiences around the world.
